Once the structural work has defined the overall space, its time to have fun with the details.
There are many talented trades people in Vancouver who do beautiful work with the high quality lumber and building products available today.
This entryway in a Burnaby split level had a boring staircase leading up from the main entry to the living room. We removed the original structure and built a curving oak stairway with inlaid granite steps and forged iron balusters. The inlaid granite was the homeowners brilliant idea that we executed. The honed granite surface is easy to clean, not at all slippery in stocking feet and harmonizes with the granite themed entryway and fireplace.
Beneath the space created by the reoriented curving staircase we also built a snug wine cellar.
